Oval Aquamarine with Round Diamond Collar Solitaire Ring

I purchased the heirloom 1.6 carat stone with a white gold band to propose to my fiancée while we were in Rhodes. Most importantly, I'm delighted to say she said yes, but she absolutely loves her ring, and I have been complimented on the ring choice often by friends and family since! The stone shows lots of different shades depending on the quality of light. I wanted to avoid a diamond for thee reasons. One being that it's a fortune to get a stone of a decent size. The other two being that while diamonds are expensive, they're somewhat characterless as a choice where I come from, and other than being sparkly I find them quite boring. I love the splash of colour the aquamarine brings, it really stands out, and it was a fantastic option all around when I was being somewhat cost conscious too given the current financial situation. While I have no comparison, I think upping the stone quality is worth it for aquamarine to bring as much depth in colour to the stone as possible, I'm very glad I did because that's what makes it so eye catching to me. Overall, I'm delighted.
