My wife inherited a couple of pieces of black onyx jewelry dating to the early 20th century. The pieces include a cabochon ring and pendant but no earrings. The only complaint my wife had was how far out the stones were from the base of the earring. The basket setting pushed them out a bit further than the martini setting does. However, it is a wash since she prefers the 4 prongs int he basket setting to the three prongs in the martini setting.
