This was my first time buying gemstone jewelry online. BlueNile and James Allen have made a name for themselves so that was where I turned to first. However, personally I was not impressed by their selection, quality of colored gemstones, and customer service. Each time I reached out to either company's customer service, they were not unfriendly, but lacking in knowledge and they came off kind of blah in their responses. I'm so glad I continued my search and found Angara. Unlike the other two companies, Angara allowed some customization to the jewelry I was shopping for. I was able to pick the type of metal, different size rubies, and most importantly the quality of the rubies. I could not get over the lower quality options at the other online retailers, and even including what many high end department stores were advertising online. Even major national brick and mortar jewelers were advertising online, lab made rubies or low quality rubies for about the same price. After searching through Angara's large selection of styles, I made my pick. However, I was still cautious and did not want to get ripped off or worse yet scammed since I had never heard of them. So I continued to do my research on the company and contacted customer service to clarify my questions and concerns. I did read some bad reviews that were concerning. However, all companies can make mistakes and receive bad reviews no matter how great they are. It is how they respond and take responsibility that I look for, as long as the majority of the reviews aren't horrible. Through my conversation with customer service and the company's thorough responses in regards to resizing, satisfaction guarantee returns, and their 110% refund of purchase price if the piece does not appraise for at least 125% of purchase price; I felt confident in making my purchase. I was lucky enough and surprised the direct of sales and marketing himself came on to the live chat to help clarify things and we had a wonderful conversation. The level of customer service and knowledge is far beyond the other two companies I first looked at. One of the negative comments I saw online a few times is the bad quality and craftsmanship of the jewelry. I personally did not have this problem. I am picky and to me the piece was made well. No issue of the ring snagging on clothes or obvious physical issues signifying low quality workmanship. In addition, I did have the ring appraised by GIA certified appraiser I found local to me. She was impressed by the quality and color of the rubies, and overall craftsmanship of the ring. My appraisal came in at well over the minimum 125% of purchase price. I am happy with my purchase. More importantly my wife loves her ring. The pictures actually don't do the ring justice. It looks better worn and in person. Based on this experience, I am definitely going to search Angara first for future jewelry purchases.
