Medium nacre and lustre. Medium-grade South Sea pearls representing top 33% of harvest.

Thick nacre with very high lustre. High-grade South Sea pearls representing top 10% of harvest.

Very thick nacre and ultra-high lustre. Highest grade South Sea pearls representing top 1-2% of harvest.

The filling of surface-breaking fissures with a colourless oil, wax or other colourless substance except glass or plastic, to improve the gemstone's clarity is an age-old process adopted for virtually all emeralds.

Top 33% of emeralds in terms of quality.  Medium green and heavily included.  This quality is comparable to that used by leading independent/family jewellers.
